Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers offers a $4,000 grant
Engineering students, try and apply for this grant
Earn a $4,000 scholarship as an engineering student if you have a minimum GPA of 3.4
Sometimes it’s simply not enough just to make the decision to enroll with a degree program. You need to consider some other aspects like will you have the time for these offline or internet courses? But most importantly, do you have the money to pay for a full or part time degree program?
If the answer to this last question is no, you shouldn’t get discouraged. Not everyone has money put aside for emergencies or other big expenses. But if you really think you could benefit from taking a few traditional or internet classes, then you should really consider alternative ways of making money for college.
Even if you have a job to fall back on, college expenses will really burn through your finances. Because regardless of how you look at it, a degree program costs money, even if you attend online or offline.
Nothing in this world comes for free and the same can be said for education – if you want to earn a degree or take a few courses on the Internet for extra credit then you’ll have to take some money out of your pocket. If you don’t have any extra finances to spare, then you will have to consider searching and applying for scholarship programs.
Scholarships represent the easiest method to pay for college, since upon graduation you don’t have to pay the amount of money received back.
So start looking for scholarships in your domain. Have you decided you are going to pursue engineering? Then open up Google in your browser and type a search query among these lines: “Scholarships for engineering students”.
You’ll see you have plenty of options. One of scholarship you might stumble upon in your search is the one offered by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. The program is aimed at graduate and undergraduate industrial engineering students who have demonstrated academic excellence and campus leadership. Students can earn up to $4,000 per grant.
However, this scholarship has a few requirements that might not allow just any student to apply for this grant. For starters, you are required to be an active Institute member as reflected on or before your October chapter roster.
You can easily apply for a membership but keep one thing in mind – as a student you will be required to pay a $37 fee. Being a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers has its benefits. Like for example you’ll be able to take advantages of resources that will help you advance your career or find a job. On top of that, you’ll be able to apply for this $4,000 grant.
Membership out of the way, the program also has other requirements candidates must take into consideration. You will have to demonstrate a general GPA of 3.4 in order to be considered for the scholarship. Last but not least, you must have a graduation date of May/June 2019 or later.
To conclude, we’ll have to note that you can’t apply directly for the scholarship, but you’ll have to be nominated by IE department heads or faculty advisors.
